Facts: Colo-rectal cancer is the second most common cancer killer. It represents 11% of all new cancer cases. In the United States this year it is predicted that 148,300 new cases of colo-rectal cancer will be discovered. Of these patients, 56,600 will die from the disease.
This examination is recommended for the following individuals.
- Men and Women age 50 and older
Individuals age 40 and older should consider the examination if any of the following conditions exists:
- Personal or family history of Polyps
- Personal history of ovarian, endometrial, or Breast Cancer
- Chronic inflammatory Bowel Disease for more than 10 years.
- Low fiber, high fat diet
- Inactivity
- Obesity
- Alcohol abuse
- Tobacco use
